I've produced a test page for this problem at:

http://www.james.head.btinternet.co.uk/jav...error_test.html

The menu and page is okay and viewable okay in:

Opera version 5
IE versions 5 to 6

The menu drops down okay in Netscape version 4.7, but overlaps the buttons.

The menu does not drop down at all in Netscape 6.

I used DHTML builder version 2.8 to create the menu, and upgrading to the a later version is not an option.

Anyone have any ideas?

Dear JRH,

By the time Navigator 6 was released we had already released DHTML Menu Builder 3.0

This means that support for this browser is only available on DHTML Menu Builder versions 3.0 and above.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.  It has cleared things up.

I have one question, it seems very stupid to me that Netscape would appear to have written Netscape Navigator 6 in such a way that any pages designed for and viewable in Netscape 4.7 are now unnavigatable; and require the author of the page to upgrade to a new version of the software he is using to create the site!

Please don't miss-understand this comment.  It is in no way a reflection upon your software or company.  I have used DHTML Menu Builder 2.8 on a few sites now and have found it to be very good and easy to use, and gives impressive results.  However as the pages I do are purely voluntary I can not upgrade to a newer version.

I am only annoyed at Netscape!

JRH,

Well, I have good news for you.
A special version of 2.8 will be re-released soon as it will be included on a very popular magazine.

This version will provide support (very basic though) for Navigator 6.

So, feel free to request this version and I'll send it to you.

Two notes:

1) You will have to remind me about it. So post your request as a reply to this thread in about 3 weeks.

2) You will have to prove that you got your version from an authorized magazine. A simple scan of the Magazine's cover (or the bundled CD) will be enough.

I’m sorry for being so picky but I don’t want having to send this version to everyone who says that he/she got the magazine.
