Hello!

My first post, hope I get some help!

I am fighting with my friends that the dhtml menus are not good, since there are still people out there with java-disabled browsers. mad.gif

What should I do about this ? How should I respond ?

I think I can create different sets of pages and redirst people to those pages, but do I need to take that long route ?

There're many things you can do.
For example, if you disable javascript on your browser and you go to our web site: http://software.xfx.net/ you will see an error.

Others simply redirect you somewhere else... with a lightweight version of the web site.

What percentage of the Internet users do you think browse the internet with JS turned off?

Do you really care missing those 20 users? wink.gif

Do you really think these users will be able to make their way to your web site with JS disabled?
...knowing that they won't be able to use most search engines, won't be able to use 85% of the web sites on the internet, won't be able to... well... browse at all!

I really wonder... how far can you get with JS disabled!

Thanks for your comments, you are right, what if I miss that 20 people , but there are still companies/people out there with restricted browsing capabilities.

I solved my problem with a very easy way, using an image as a toolbar ( not the DMB created toolbar )

That's the way we do it on the main web site (http://software.xfx.net)

We use images as hotspots and these hotspots are clickable.

I always use TheCounter.com to view what they call "Global Stats". It's a collection of all their hit counters spread out over the WWW. It gives you some very good numbers to base decisions on - in this case, to see how many people browse the web w/o JS enabled. (http://www.thecounter.com/stats/2002/August/javas.php).

11% with js disabled???
Wow... that's too much... too many uneducated people with the wrong ideas and concepts on their heads!
