How these terms did become "generic categories"?

Don’t people know that these are names from commercial applications... not categories? mad.gif

It is flattering that people start calling a specific type of application by the name of the first program ever created, but what's wrong with all these so-called software developers using the same name as one of these products?

Go ahead and try a search at download.com and look for "popup killer" or "dhtml menu builder".

...you'll be surprised to found how many loosers think they can develop software just because they have a computer!

------------

FYI:
PopUp Killer was created back in 1996 and it was the first application of its kind.

DHTML Menu Builder was created back in 1999 and it was the first application of its kind. The first public release was made on Saturday, June 19, 1999.

I remember seeing the Xfx PopUp Killer some years back, and I honest to God remember thinking it was/is an awesome idea, but could swear I though it was a generic "categoric" name, don't know why. Maybe because the name is so nicely put that explains it all in itself!
