Greetings. I am having trouble using the app. Part of the problem is a security issue specific to our network, which has recently converted to windows 2000. When I try to open the app I get the attached error message.

When I log onto my machiene as a local admin, the app opens and I can work-- though the app responds slowly. I cannot not compile the file, however. It locks up under "creating menus for all supported browers" and the program no longer responds.

Any ideas? I have tried editing the .js files in an attempt to work around the app. But the dmb file? How exactly does it function or how does it affect the menu apart from the .js files?

Under Windows NT4/2000/XP you should download and install DHTML Menu Builder while logged as an Administrator.

Then it should work just fine when run from any other account as long as the account has enough privileges to run applications that use proprietary ActiveX controls.

------

If DHTML Menu Builder crashes or stops responding when compiling/previewing try running it in DEBUG mode:

While logged as the Administrator click on:
START->Programs->DHTML Menu Builder->Support->Start DHTML Menu Builder in debug mode

While in this mode DHTML Menu Builder will present an error number and a description of the error before crashing.
Take note of the error and post it here.

I have attached a screen shot with the error message.

Open the Event Viewer and see if you can find which COM component is timing out.

This is a very complex issue to resolve and most of the time is related to security settings that prevent some custom COM objects from properly initializing.

Hopefully the Event Viewer will tell you which one of these components is the one having problems.

Forgot to ask:
Do you have more than 1 CPU on your machine?

Our Help Desk (after numerous attempts) finally figured out the probelm which was a security issue. So far the app is working fine. Thanks for all of your help...

I'm REALLY glad to hear that!
