Mr. T
Hi,
I'm having a problem with properly displaying my menus on my main html doc. I have DHTML Ver: 3.5.004.

  Here is my Site: http://learntolearn.dynamic-site.net

I have 2 Frames, one frame has my hotspots called heading.html and my other frame is intended to display the menu selection from the top frame.

Problem: the menu stays in the top frame and when a link is selected it opens the link in the top frame, not the bottom frame.

How can I fix this, also, will ASP pages with scripts cause problems.

T.

Terry,

The "menus frame" is determined by the page that contains the frames loader code.

If your menus are appearing on the wrong frame is because the file that "wrong" frame contains the frames loader code.

So, all you have to do is remove it.

I can't give you more precise instructions because I could not view your web site. (Is the URL that you posted correct?)

Regarding your second question:

No. ASP/PHP/etc... is server side code while javascript is client side code so there's no problem is using both.

Hi Xavier,

Sorry, I had my Firewall on Stealth Mode yesterday and forgot to adjust the settings back to normal.  I host my web locally.  Try this first:  http://learntolearn.dynamic-site.net
Try this Second:  http://www.learntolearn.dynamic-site.net

I have also attached the DMB file.  I've only being using the software for a fews days now, however I really think its Kewl Tool.   Once I get my head around this Frames configeration with the DHML Menu Builder I'll run with it.  This site has a video example on frames however they are still unavailable.  Does anyone have a copy of it?

Thanks for you help.

Terry.  ;)

Here're the detailed instructions:

(NOTE: Everything here is also covered on the Help->Contents->Implementing The Menus->Working with Frames)

1) Open your project in DMB
2) Click on File->Project Properties->Configurations
3) Click on the "Frames Support" button
4) Enable frames support
5) Click on the browse button (small yellow folder) and select the index.html file on your web site (the frameset).
6) Click OK to save your changes

7) Recompile the project (Tools->Compile)

8) Click on Tools->Install Loader Code
9) Make sure that only "heading.html" is listed on the dialog
10) Click Install

11) Click on Tools->Install Frames Loader Code
12) Make sure that "Main.html" is listed on the dialog
Note that, actually, all the documents that at any time will be loaded (displayed) on the "text" frame MUST also be listed on this dialog
13) Click Install

...and you're done...
open index.html with your browser and the menus will be working just fine.

Recommendation:

Instead of using your own text-based hotspots (that is, the menu bar that you have created) I highly recommend you using a menu bar created with DHTML Menu Builder.

...it makes thing SO much easier!

Hi.
You maybe surprised to hear that they are not text-based hotspots.  They are infact images.  Anyways, I've decided to take your advice and use the menu bar that  DHTML creates.

The frames bit still caused problems even with your detailed instructions.  However, I elected to not to use frames and instead just use the Install Loader code into all the pages that display at my site.  Thanks for your help.  I really like your product and for the price its a deal.

Thanks.

I wonder why you were having so many problems with the frames support.

...if you ever decide to work on a project that requires frames support and encounter similar problems, please let me know.
