The menu of my web app was intially built with 3.3. I upgraded to 3.5, and tried to remove-reinstall the frames loader code thorugh the hotspots editor. I get a message that the files I need to install the code onto cannot be added to the list because thay are not in the root web. I add the entire folder (asp pages) into the root web, click install-- but the menu generates errors [Javascript Error. Description: Expected ')'] when I preview them in the browser.

Go to the folder where you install DMB (usually c:\program files\DHTML Menu Builder\)

Now open this folder: LCLists

Delete everything you find inside it.

--------

Open your .dmb project with DMB.
Double check that your local configuration is set as the default and its information is valid: the paths, the hotspots editor section and the frames support section.

Now recompile (Tools->Compile)
And update the loader code on all your pages (Tools->Install Loader Code).

NOTE: With DMB 3.5 you should NEVER need to switch back to your remote configuration.

I'm having the same problem as I too upgraded - however I have tried what is listed here and still the error comes up that the files are outside the web.

Installing the loader I only selected one file and when I check it code has been entered however the error pops up for this file and all other files in the site saying they are outside the root.

Even though the js code has been inserted into the page as requested the menus do not display.

Can you please post your project so I can take a loot at it?

Also, try this:

Go to the folder where you installed DMB (usually c:\program files\dhtml menu builder\) and delete the folder "LCLists".

Then, try using the Install Loader Code option again.

Enclosed is my menu file.  After deleting directory and even uninstalling and removing entire directory I still get same error - also receive error 76 invalid path - yet I have checked and double-checked the paths and they are all correct.

My site is on local server 127.0.0.1

It looks like you have manually typed all the links on your menus.

This could be part of the problem.

Try re-setting the links on your menus using the Browse button (the yellow folder besides the URL text box) and then try the reinstalling the loader and frames-loader code.

Unfortunately that didn't work either - I can install the "loader code" just not the "frames loader code" - I get error 76 invalid path (c:\Inetpub\wwwroot) then the error pops up with all files under root web saying they are outside the root web.

This was working perfect with v3.3 or v3.4 something.

Any other ideas?

FYI - I've been trying to validate my copy however I keep getting error regarding "unable to contact server"
awesmdiver
Also I have been able to actually get the "frame loader" code to install - however after the code installs I then get the message regarding outside the web.

But with what file do you get this error?

When the dialod is displayed, what is the filename reported by DMB?
awesmdiver
Thats the problem - ALL files are displayed one at a time I have to click "OK" for every file in the root directory and sub-directories
awesmdiver
Ok - think I figured it out - when I add files to the "frames loader" and try to 'install' I get the error that the files are outside the website - all files get listed even though I only selected 1 file.  However, if I save the menu and close the program and reopen I can install the loader.  Once the files install the first time I can add other files/directories and it works fine.  However if I remove the files listed and add files back I get the error unless I end the program and restart (it sometimes takes a couple of tries but once the files that you are going to install the frames loader to get saved it will continue to work)

Dear awesmdiver,

I will double check the code that installs the loader code and see if I can the bug that's causing this annoying situation.
